The OLED MacBook Pro may not be much thinner than the current model
Apple's long-rumored OLED MacBook Pro, which will be its first laptop with a touchscreen, may not end up being much thinner than the current model, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. He has thus contradicted his own previous predictions, now saying that he doesn't think "it'll be significantly thinner in the end".
For reference, the current MacBook Pro 14" is 15.5mm thick and weighs between 1.55kg and 1.62kg, while the 16-inch model is 16.8mm thick and weighs between 2.14kg and 2.15kg. So there's definitely a lot of room to make the new ones lighter, and perhaps slightly thinner too.
A few days ago, Gurman said Apple is going to launch the 14" and 16" MacBook Pro with the OLED touchscreen sometime in November. They should be powered by Apple's M6 series chips and ship with macOS 27.2 pre-installed.
